Few sunglasses are iconic as Ray Bans; when they were created by Bausch and Lomb in 1937 they probably were not expected to become so popular, but rather just keep the sun out of soldiers’ eyes.
Years prior to 1937 a lieutenant in the United States Army complained that his vision had been damaged by the sun after a balloon flying excursion and contacted Bausch and Lomb about designing a pair of glasses for soldiers that would block out the harmful UV rays. Then in 1937 Bausch and Lomb took out a patent for the prototype that was called Anti-Glare; the glasses were extremely light and had green lenses to filter out UV rays that not only caused soldiers to squint but also damaged their vision. These Ray Ban Aviators became widely popular amongst soldiers and can be seen in photos of soldiers during World War II.
Since the inception of Ray Ban sunglasses two of their most popular designs, the Wayfarers and the Aviators, have underwent minor style tweaks here and there but they are essentially the same iconic glasses they were over 70 years ago. Ray Ban has obviously added many other designs to their repertoire of glasses, including eye glasses and they are no longer owned by Bausch and Lomb. They were sold to the sunglasses giant Luxottica in 1999 and have only continued to grow and flourish.

so today i bought sunglasses from that sunglasses store solstice , i bought the marc jacob aviators in all black. i tired on a lot of different brand names. So after wearing them for the day and coming home i noticed it said made in china, they felt fake like those cheap plastic ones you buy in target. COuld they be fake ones? i’m not sure. but i am defiantly exchanging them for armani’s, it just doesn’t feel right.
