Sunglasses Styles for Every Fashionista
Some people like to follow the trends, but I have always done my own thing. I like to find clothing and accessories that are a little off the beaten track, and this includes eyewear. I remember when Ray Ban sunglasses first came out with the Wayfarer style in the 80′s, and I was in love. I found them before they took off and became an icon of that decade, but even though others wore them and then traded out when a new style came along, I’ve been wearing them since then. Of course like shoes, I have more than one pair of sunglasses!
Along with my funky Wayfarers sunglasses by Ray Ban, I also have a great pair of oversize sunglasses in my arsenal, so when I’m having a “Jackie O” day, I can bring out these black beauties. Whether I’m going to have lunch at a swanky joint, or attending a fashion show with my friends, I love my black oversize designer sunglasses for these “oh so glamourous” occasions. Of course, to go with my Jackie O shades, I put a fun and unexpected accessory with it, like a black dress with a bright pink scarf or yellow belt. I wouldn’t be me if I wasn’t mixing a couple creative elements with a standard in the fashion world.
For those sunny days at the beach during the summer, I have performance sunglasses that can keep up with me whether I’m body boarding or playing volleyball. This is not the time for designer sunglasses like my oversize Jackie O’s, this is time for my Arnette eyewear. I have a great tortoise shell framed pair of Arnettes that wrap around and keep that bright sun out at all angles and protect my precious eyesight. I have a cute bikini that just sets off my shades, and some crazy flip flops with turtles on them to keep my outfit unique.
I think that sunglasses are an important accessory that should not only change to suit the occasion, but a fashion statement in and of itself, that can make or break my unique style.

How did Michael Jackson get his sunglasses’ lenses so dark?
I know they were polarized, but when I look online at pictures of polarized sunglasses, they don’t seem as dark as Michael Jackson’s aviators, for example. Did he add another coating or something to the sunglasses?
Or are my eyes tricking me into thinking that his glasses seem darker than other ones?

No lots of sunglasses can be that dark. I have ones that are that dark and they aren’t even a good brand. When you put sunglasses on they make a shadow on your eyes so it seems much darker than if you held a pair up and looked through them. Also sunglasses reflect light, especcially from camera flashes etc and mirror things so you can’t see through them.

They’re both equally the same as far as quality. They just have different styles. Ray Ban is more for the classy formal look, while Oakleys are for more casual driving, beach, outdoorsy, that kind of thing. hope this helps.

I just got a pair of vintage B&L 5022 and I was wondering if they are strictly men’s glasses? They are a little big on my face and I was wondering if I can get them tightened? Yeah their unisex. Even if they we’re meant to be mens glasses back then, no one will really know because all raybans are unisex now. I’m not really sure where you can get them tightened.. I usually get mine tightened at the store where i buy them.

Well I am a huge fan of Fossil aviators…I love mine. I also have a cheapo pair from Old Navy that aren’t quite as large and chunky as the ones in the VS pic. I googled the Fossil Aviators and found these at Macy’s…and as you can see on the right hand side of the picture there are other brands of the same style available.
